Zum ersten Mal hörte ich das Lied “Insensitive” von Jann Arden im Frühjahr 1996 in den USA. Weil mir das Lied sehr gefiel und ich mir nicht sicher war, ob es in Österreich auch erhältlich sein würde, kaufte ich mir damals das Album “Living Under June”. Wie so oft ist es vor allem der Text, und dann die Musik, das mich auch bei diesem Song angesprochen hat und anspricht. “Insensitive” diente mir als Inspiration für das folgende Gedicht, das ich im Juli 2003 schrieb:

About not being in-sensitive

I was listening to “Insensitive”.

A question arose:

What does in-sensitive mean?

Does it mean not to be sensitive at all?

Is s/he a human then?

Does it mean not to take things too seriously?

Is s/he superficial then?

Does it mean hurting the other before getting hurt?

Is s/he cruel then?

After having thought about being in-sensitive

I decided to be sensitive.

I decided to

be human

I decided to

be profound

I decided to

be nice

and

I decided to

take the risk of being hurt.
